On September 5th at 4:36 in the morning is the Virgo New Moon at 13 degrees. New Moons are the perfect time to set intentions, plant seeds, and ask for your desires.
Most of you have heard of vision boards and might understand them to be where you put a picture of a Mercedes on your board and it will magically appear in your driveway. I’m not saying that isn’t possible, but I believe there is more to it than that.
Intention is a huge part of getting what we want out of life. Making a vision board is like setting an intention and in order to set an intention, you have to get clear on what you want. Getting clear on what you want also helps you to tune into yourself and your needs and your desires. It is a self-exploration tool.
I like to look at the area of my life that the New Moon is affecting. Finding out what house in your natal chart it is hitting can bring a wonderful focal point to your board. Bringing an understanding of the sign (Virgo this month) and house and what intentions you would like to set for that area can make a pretty powerful statement.
So this month the New Moon is in the sign of Virgo. Virgo is about service, but not the self-sacrificing kind of service. When we think of Virgo, there is a quality of the Vestal Virgins. These women carried out a sacred service to their community to which they were bound, but they were not owned by any man (which was unheard of for a woman back in those times). Virgo asks you to be sovereign over your own life and then from that place, share your gifts with your community.
Then, knowing the Virgo quality, look at the house the New Moon occupies. If you don’t have this information you can just pick an area you want to focus on. Maybe it falls into your 3rd house of communication. In what way can you share your voice with your community? What do you need to feel safe and completely standing in your own power to be able to express yourself? Maybe you need the support of a loved one. Maybe you need a firm financial foundation because speaking up might jeopardize your employment. Or maybe you just need a microphone and a computer so you can podcast.
Every month the New Moon is in a different sign (usually), so this could be a monthly ritual if you wanted. Making the board is easy… magazines, scissors, glue sticks. You can print pictures off the Internet. You can use markers to write words. You can paint, you can stamp, and you can draw. Anything goes… this is your personal expression. One thing I feel is super important about this. Don’t show it to anyone who will belittle your dreams. You don’t want anyone to look at it in judgment or tell you, “You can’t.” It is hard enough not to do that to our self.
Go and try this! You can do it any time; it doesn’t have to be at 4:36 am. I’m doing mine later that morning. You could do it the night after… it is all good. Set some intentions. Empower yourself!
